Remedial Massage at Movement Studio

What is Remedial Massage Therapy?

Remedial massage is a complementary manual therapy (especially when used in partnership with Chiropractic/ Osteopathy) that works to treat muscles that are abnormal, tense or immobile.

Remedial Massage is useful when seeking to reduce pain, improve range of motion of the muscles and joints and to restore and maintain the soft tissue structures of the body.

If it’s your first Remedial Massage appointment your therapist will make a point of discussing your health and lifestyle as well as what you’re looking to achieve with Remedial Massage Therapy.

If you have the relevant Private Health Insurance cover, you are able to claim your rebate on the day using HICAPs and simply pay the gap fee.

The following are a number of techniques and modalities that the Remedial Massage Therapists at Movement Studio utilise during treatment.

Myofascial/Functional Release Cupping

Functional Release cupping works by applying cups in relevant areas of concern and integrating dynamic, functional movement to affect a positive change in movement restrictions.

Pregnancy Massage

Remedial Massage during pregnancy is a great way to ease general discomfort. Remedial Massage during pregnancy can help to relieve stress, reduce swelling and relieve muscle and joint pain. Your therapist will talk you through any questions or concerns you may have receiving therapy during pregnancy.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique mainly used to treat strains and sports injuries that involves applying firm, sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target muscles and connective tissues.

Lomi Lomi Massage

Lomi Lomi Massage is a traditional Hawaiian massage that uses a combination of massage techniques and breathing exercises to restore energy and sooth the body.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage massage is a gentle form of massage that encourages the movement of lymph fluids around the body.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a commonly used technique in manual therapy to treat knotted muscles. Direct, firm pressure is applied to identified areas of concern for a longer duration, or until muscle release is felt.

Pre and Post Event Massage

Massage before and after training or performance can help reduce muscle soreness, reduce inflammation and can reduce recovery time significantly.
